Terms of use

CPT Converter is a free web tool by Constructiehuis for reading, digitizing and exporting cone penetration tests (CPTs). By using the tool you agree to these terms.

1. What the tool is

CPT Converter runs entirely in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to a server unless you choose to save a sounding to your account. The tool is meant as an aid for unlocking existing ground investigation data.

2. No warranty of accuracy

Digitizing a scanned sounding is an estimate. Axes are read using character recognition and the measurement curve is traced automatically; scan quality, skew, stains and overlapping curves all affect the result, which may differ from the original measurement.

Always check every result against the source file before using it. The tool is provided as is, without any warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose.

3. Liability

Constructiehuis is not liable for any damage arising from the use of CPT Converter or of its results. This includes errors in digitized or exported data, decisions based on that data, and consequential loss.

You remain responsible for the geotechnical interpretation and for any structural application. A sounding is input for a calculation, not a calculation. Always have a foundation or geotechnical structure verified by a qualified structural or geotechnical engineer.

4. Ownership of the code

CPT Converter is not open source. The source code is owned by Constructiehuis and is not public. You may use the tool free of charge for your own work, including commercial work. You may not decompile, copy, resell or offer the tool as your own service.

5. Your data and files

The soundings you load remain yours. If you save a sounding to your account, you grant Constructiehuis only the right to store it and return it to you. See the privacy statement for what is recorded.

6. Availability

The tool is a free service. No availability is guaranteed and features may change or disappear. Always keep your own copy of your files and exports.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by Dutch law; the Dutch version prevails in case of any difference. Questions are welcome via constructiehuis.nl.
